Accessibility basics every website should pass
A short checklist that makes a site usable for more people, and better for everyone.

Accessibility is not an extra. It is part of building a site that works. These basics cover most of the common failures.
- Text has enough contrast against its background.
- Every image has meaningful alt text, or empty alt if purely decorative.
- Everything works with a keyboard, with a visible focus state.
- Headings are in a logical order and describe the page.
- Form fields have labels, and errors say what went wrong.
- Links say where they go, not “click here”.
- Motion respects the reduced-motion setting.
Automated tools catch only part of the problems, so also tab through the page yourself and try a screen reader on your key flows.
